here is the site in full flower.
here is the site today after lots of clearing and digging.
the roots and weeds removed
the trench for the sleepers
will post more progress and pics as they materialise. i have tomorrow off college and sunday free so should be able to get the timber brought and painted, and possibly concreted in place
the track will be layed on old sleepers from our narrow guage railway, which are being replaced. they will be put in the trench that has been dug at the top of the slope. this is the only bit of ground level track as there is a big height difference.
the rest of the track will be lifted on 3" x 3" fence posts with 6" wide marine ply on top.
i have ordered 30yds of peco sm32 track which will be screwed down and have balast in between the sleepers.
the hill in the top right corner, will have a tunnel through it. i will remove the bricks, which are just stacked, and dig out the front of the hill. i have got the offer of some slabs which i will sink in and cement together to make the tunnel. the earth will then be put back and the bricks cemented back. i will make a small cutting from the sloping end, with nice abutments and portals at each end.
as im now a horticultural student, i have got one project at college which is titled "investigative project". this is where i have to research, design and build a horticultural project in a graden. i will use the building of my railway for the project. i have also got to plant the railway with dwarve shrubs and nice small plants to look like a real railway.

Fantastic! I like that, I wish I could make a garden railway for a qualification ! I believe in scale planting, but I'm sure you'll make it excellent as you know your plants _________________ Cheers,
Pete
just had an email from john at track-shack, who i ordered my track and edrig from, and he said they are in the post and should recieve signed for before 1 o'clock on monday.
i thought this was super fast as i sent my order off on monday night, sent the cheque on tuesday morning, and are in the post on friday, note-ing that cheques take several days to clear, i thought this was excellent sevice.

When John's dispatched things to me on a Friday they've turned up on the Saturday, so there's a good chance you'll be steaming tomorrow . _________________ Cheers,

Ye, get the neighbours to take it (if you can trust them with your pride and joy, the neighbours topic shows that some can't). _________________ Cheers,

more progress.
i have now cut and painted the fence posts which will support the track bed.
holes have been dug for all but 2 posts.
i might be able to get some sleepers on saturday for the ground level section, then can cement the posts in on sunday.

Lookling good rob, and it sounds like your railway is going in very fast! Wish the project I was working on went that quickly!
In the second pic on your latest post it appears the posts are not level!?! Is it just the pic or were they not concreted in yet?!? _________________ Bungle80a
